Completely free to join and take part!
This completely free five day creative writing challenge will engage your child or teen in a series of fun and inspiring activities, generating a range of original story ideas that they can go on to develop into their own great works of fiction.
Every day from Monday 17th - Friday 21st February, you will get a creative writing activity, complete with beautiful PDF booklet, direct to your inbox.
What to expect
Back when I was a teen, I loved to write, but often felt frustrated when it came to generating interesting and exciting story ideas. Fast forward a couple of decades, and as an experienced teacher and tutor, practicing writer and childrens’ creativity advocate, I’ve amassed lots of ways to spark imagination and develop ideas.
The challenge is made up of five different daily activities, designed to create and develop plot ideas for your young person’s own works of fiction. The challenge is aimed at 11-16 year olds, however those slightly younger or older are likely to find the activities accessible and engaging.
Each PDF booklet contains:
An introduction to the challenge;
A guide to the day’s challenge, complete with examples;
Printable resources and/or workbook pages to take part in the challenge.
Each challenge is designed to be enjoyable and interactive, but your child is completely welcome to dip in and out of the activities and focus on the bits that work for them.
How will it work?
Sign up to receive the challenges and booklets.
The guide for the day’s challenge will arrive in your inbox in the morning.
At around 09:30, I’ll be popping onto Instagram for a live, where I’ll talk through the day’s challenge and be available to answer any questions you may have. The videos will be available afterwards as well, in case you can’t make it live. Follow me @unpicking.english to join in.
The full set of resources will only be free for the duration of the challenge, so make sure to sign up to avoid missing out.
This challenge is a free offering from ‘The Write Space’, my creative writing weekly workshop for young people. You can find out more about The Write Space here.
